Social Taxidermy

You know those people who get so involved in one thing that they're not really a person anymore, but some sort of hobby robot? This song is about those people. Words by Weston, Emily, Anneli, and Jordan. Music by Jordan.

If "Breath of Heaven" were a techno song . . .

Okay, I was hesitant to put this song up, since some may be offended that a song with religious meaning was turned into a techno song. Just don't think of the words; just appreciate the chord progressions and the beat, since that's what techno is for anyways.

GPA Song

I wanted to write a barbershop quartet, so my brother Ray wrote these words. The song isn't quite barbershop, but I like it. I may one day try to re-record the singing, since it's not really in tune. But if you can stand it, here it is.

Bubble Gum Pop

My cousin once remarked that Lady GaGa has a "bubble gum pop" sort of sound. This song is supposed to have that sound, too. I'm pretty sure it used the tune from Snippets.

Pizzaz de Spain

An attempt at the Spanish sound. Scores high on the fun scale, and low on the authenticity. Also, I can't really play the piano part.

Workin' Grounds

I worked grounds for a year. In general, it was a great job. There were some - how should I say this? - nasty cons to the job, first and foremost being the residents of Budge Hall. If I find out you lived there, I almost automatically lose respect for you. The percussion is actually recordings of shovels and hammers. I used Audacity to paste it into a beat. Lyrics by my brother Ray, a first-hand victim of my whining.

Kninja

This song was meant as background music for a music video I was going to make. The video never happened, but the song is cool. It's meant to have a "Last Samurai" sort of feel.

Wind Song

So, I'm terrible with titles. This song was an attempt to write a song that sounds like Native American music. I know that it's not authentic at all, but it works. Kind of like everyone knows the fake banana flavor, even though it doesn't taste like banana. So fake Native Americans (like Disney's Pocahontas) would like this song.

Dad's Song

I wrote this song for Dad on father's day. It has my singing, such as it is, and my own lyrics.

Snippets

I sometimes get ideas for songs about 3 measures long, and I don't know what to do with them. So I made a string quartet of all of them. It sounds funky (midi's do that sometimes) but still good.

The Sad Song

I wrote this song when I was - you guessed it - sad. Now I see myself as a little over-dramatic for writing a song about the whole thing, but it's nice. And sad.

About This Blog

This page is a collection of songs that I have composed. Composed is a fancy word; thrown together is more like what I do. Using an electric keyboard (thanks, Ray) plugged in to my computer (thanks, Mom) running Finale Songwriter (Merry Christmas, Self), I can make mp3's of the songs that I write. So here they are; you can listen to them for free. If you want the music, email me (netrowaymus@gmail.com) and I'll send you a PDF. Enjoy!
